Fireworks have been part of the Sprechen story for the last 8 years.

Each year, our contribution to the Winchester Bonfire and Fireworks has slowly evolved into more and more technical aspects of supporting Winchester Round Table (and our CEO member, Steve) with the event.

As the city’s largest one-day event, it’s been a staple in the calendar of Wintonians for over 60 years, with 20,000 people in a field behind North Walls Recreation Ground, and the atmospheric Bonfire Procession through the High Street.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this year the event has changed into LightUpWinchester - a socially-distanced, at-home fireworks fundraising display. In essence, Round Table covered the city in brilliant fireworks, at the start of ‘Lockdown 2.0’.

Initial feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and the thirty members of the club are massively proud of the event each which gives so much back to the city.

Marketing and Media

Sprechen has been providing marketing supporting again for the event with the creation of a custom website and e-commerce store, email marketing, social media content, design work for print and digital, media liaision and website hosting.

Credit to a unique and special event when many fireworks displays weren’t running, which made it easier to secure media interviews in the Huffington Post, BBC Radio 5 Live, BBC South Today, Wave 105, BBC Radio Solent and local press titles.

Facebook Live Online Stream in Winchester

Utilising our media and broadcasting skills, we assembled a professional volunteer team of Soundbite Productions and broadcaster Simon Clarke, as well as our own editing and script-writing skills, to build a one hour pre-fireworks show, which was streamed live to Facebook with over 16,0000 views to date.

Our custom-built Santa Sleigh tracker again took to the streets with the Wax Torch deliveries and door-to-door collecting. With hundreds of people watching online, seeing the live location of the Santa Sleigh helped them know when to brave freezing temperatures to step out on the street to donate.

Donater Cashless Donations

With the launch of our new Donater cashless donation product earlier this year, we were delighted to see it being used on the night, with one donation every 14 seconds, and helping to increase the average donation value per donation.

Our team has also volunteered their time offering a customer service style function, responding to hundreds of inbound queries through social media and email.

Wi-Fi and 4G Broadband in a Field

Our sister company, Geekabit, the UK’s Wi-Fi Expert, installed a 4G Wi-Fi router externally to help with the live streaming of drone footage on Facebook.

Thank you for your support

We are massively proud of our association with the city, which matches Winchester Round Table’s ethos to help locally those in need.

We would personally like to thank Steve Lucas at Soundbite Productions, Simon Clarke at Hampshire Event DJ’s, Warren and his team at Mint Signs, Upperlook Productions, Maritime Filming UK and Tom Evans, a fellow Tabler, for handling the Social Media platforms during the final run up to the event. As well as all our friends in the media who so willingly go out of their way to publicise Winchester’s biggest one-day event.
