There is a noticeable nip in the air first thing in the morning now, the trees are just starting to drop their leaves and the days are getting rapidly shorter. Autumn has most definitely arrived in Winchester which pleases Vicky an enormous amount - wellies, windy winter walks (ending at pubs with open fires), roast dinners and sloe gin are all on the menu again. Steve's not so enthusiastic about waving goodbye to occasional sunshine, barbecues and long summer evenings for another year, and Sam started hibernating in 2013!
The end of summer also heralds a busy time for the community side of Sprechen's work. Steve has spent a lot of spare time and weekends working with the Winchester Round Table creating the Winchester Santa Sleigh from an aged milk float, some plywood and various parts from a local scrapyard. The Santa Sleigh will tour residential Winchester areas before Winchester delighting local children and raising money for charities. The Winchester Round Table bonfire and fireworks are also high on the list this week as we put the finishing touches to the programme and start promoting tickets. Finally, Steve has been helping to plan the Clarendon Marathon, which takes runners along a picturesque cross-country route from Salisbury to Winchester at the beginning of October. None of the Sprechen team are close to fit enough to take part - perhaps an aim for next year?
You could be forgiven for thinking that we have not had much else to be getting on with alongside all that, but there's been the usual heady mix of app building, coding, PR work, copywriting and social media to challenge us. Sprechen WiFi goes from strength to strength and we are still picking up new work at 'old' Sprechen.Time to sit back and take stock? Nope, we're meeting for a night out in our beloved Winchester tomorrow to celebrate a successful summer and plan the next 12 months!
